Last April, 18, LuminArte an art gallery from the Design district hosted La Maison de Camille for a French wine tasting.
My mission was to find 4 interesting wines and link my stories to the artists it represented.
The selection was designed to surprise the audience with wines that they might have never tried.
Where to start in France? I acquired my inspiration from 2 Austrian artists.
France and Austria are deeply bonded by queen Marie Antoinette. Marie was born in Austria and married at 14 years old to Louis 16e for diplomatic purposes. Unfortunately her life ended dramatically. She had her head cut off after trying to escape to east…. towards Alsace…
Let’s present 2 Alsace wines!
Alsace region is the last region before arriving in Germany. It is famous for its beautiful geraniums flowers and its wine. I picked a Riesling (dry, white wine) and a Pinot blanc (dry, white wine) from the same producers – Domaine Weinbach (Kaysersberg), same plot, same vintage.
After the tasting, guests could differenciate a Riesling, citrusy, floral notes with a firm acidity and a Pinot blanc, full body with a creamy texture.
After a short story about Bercy village – Cour Saint Emilion, Paris 12e, we tasted Bordeaux wines from the left and the right bank of the Gironde. During the tasting, we focused on the elegance of the tannins.
What a fun night! Thanks LuminArte for the fantastic event… Thank you Pogo’s for providing great wines…
